A free Blues Rhythm Guitar Workshop being offered to students at Samz School and anyone else interested in sharpening up their guitar skills. This is the first of a series of workshops that will be taught by Alex Reyes, a new guitar instructor at Samz School. Alex is a graduate of Musician’s Institute in Hollywood, CA. This first workshop is free and will cover such topics as the 12 Bar Blues, the “Boogie” shuffle and the 12 Bar Walking Bass Pattern. The twelve bar blues form is one of the most popular song structures in music. You will find it occurring in all sorts of music genres from blues to rock to country to folk to pop to jazz and more. Not only that, but many songs use slight variations of the twelve bar blues format as well. So getting familiar with the basic structure of the twelve bar blues will help you immensely as both a guitarist and a musician, particularly if you want to play and jam with other musicians. Contact Samz School to sign up at (831) 235-9588 or send us an email at Samzschoolofrock@yahoo.com. Space is limited so sign up early!!

Holiday of Lights Christmas Parade (Nov. 29th, 2009)
- Students from Samz School designed and decorated their own float complete with an 8 Ft. Guitar and a laser light show. This event was featured November 30th, 2009 in the Californian Newspaper saying,
“While some floats just carried participants waving at the crowd, one group used theirs as a rock stage. Twelve students from Samz School of Rock stood and played their instruments on their 24-foot long float, decorated with a Christmas tree and outfitted with a sound system good enough for any concert. I wanted them to play holiday songs, but of course they wanted to play ‘Crazy Train’ and other rock and roll songs,” Sam Martinez, the school’s founder, said with a laugh.
