Summer Rock Camps for 2011 will be held at the Salinas Fox Theater with the final Friday performances for each camp session on the fabulous Fox Theater Stage! Our final summer camp session is set for Monday, August 1 through 5th. Our final summer camp Rock Concert will be Friday, August 5th starting at 6:00 p.m.
Samz School of Rock Summer Camps are ideal for musicians ages 8 to 16 who want the opportunity to play the music they like with their peers. Repertoire is selected by the group, which rehearses daily. Students spend a full five days attending a hands-on atmosphere building their instrument expertise as well as learning valuable music industry-related skills. Not only will they meet and interact with other talented young musicians, they will also be given access to established music professionals who will share their experience and knowledge to make them better musicians. Each Summer Session will end with a live performance on the Fox Theater Stage for all friends and family to enjoy!

COST: $300 per one week session per student or two week sessions for $500

Samz School offers fun and affordable music instruction for young beginners and students at all levels. Individual music instruction is now available by appointment with some of the most experienced and outstanding local musicians and music instructors in Monterey County! All music lessons are held at our Samz School of Music office located in North Salinas. Currently, we offer music instruction for the following instruments: Lead and Rhythm Guitar, Bass Guitar, Drums, Keyboards, Vocals and Performance training. Samz School will provide periodic workshops and clinics for young musicians. Some of the topics for upcoming workshops will include:

AFTER SCHOOL BEGINNING GUITAR
Instructor: Mr. Alex Reyes. Alex holds an AA from Musicians Institute College of Contemporary Music in Hollywood. Alex has remarkable patience and excellent communication skills to deal with different students with special needs. Music styles include Classic Rock, Blues, Metal, Hard Rock and Pop.
Dates & Times: Ongoing. Monday, Wednesday, Friday or Saturday by appointment.
Class Description: A beginning class for either electric or acoustic players. You will learn basic chords, strumming and some simple rock songs.
Cost: $50 per hour or $25 per half hour individualized session.
BASS GUITAR LESSONS 
Dates & Times: Ongoing Monday through Friday. Saturdays by appointment.

Class Description: Randy Dowdy will be teaching students the fundamentals of music theory behind each song they learn, also teach reading tabs and chords from the songs selected to be taught. Randy will strive to make each student a better musician.
Cost: $50 per hour or $25 per half hour.

DRUM TECHNIQUES AND/OR BEGINNING KEYBOARD
Instructor: Mr. Micah Cabaccang, drummer for the Monterey All-Star Jazz Band and Blues in the Schools Honor Band.
Class Description: Students will learn proper sticking, efficient practice techniques, rock, blues, jazz , latin and other genres. Students will learn how to break down drum fills and break down song structure.
In beginning keyboard class: Students will learn basic music theory, scales, and chord structure.
Cost: $50 per hour or $25 per half hour
GUITAR TECHNIQUES – ELECTRIC, CLASSICAL OR ACOUSTIC
Instructor: Mr. Alex Reyes, Alumni of Musicians Institute College of Contemporary Music in Hollywood.
Dates/Times: Ongoing flexible schedule including Monday – Saturday morning and afternoons.
Class Description:
* Metal Guitar: Learn sweep picking techniques, minor, pentatonic scale, and help students break down and explain the techniques of their favorite metal or classic rock songs.
* Classic Guitar: Learn right hand classical guitar techniques for arpeggios, chords and scales.
* Private Lessons for Advance/Intermediate Guitar Players: Students who want to further their guitar knowledge will learn the patterns of chords, arpeggios, scales and music theory.
Cost: $50 per hour or $25 per half hour
